The total geographical area of India is 328.7 million hectares of which 140.3 million hectares is net sown area, while 193.7 million hectares is the gross cropped area. In 2025, it is estimated that the requirement of food in India will be approximately 300 million MT and for this 45 million MT nutrients will be required, it is interesting to know that only 35 million MT will provided through chemical fertilizers which indicate the high scope for organic and bio-fertilizer which can reduce the use of chemical fertilizers up to 20% and increase the yield up to 10-15% in all cropen_US
