Study on stability of male sterility of nine CMS lines over three seasons at Bangalore and Hyderabad locations revealed that the CMS lines BRG 3A, Hy 3cA, TTB 7A and ICPA 2039 found to be stable at all the three dates of pollen sterility assay. In fertility restoration analysis with three male sterile lines, 14 out of 16 tested male lines restored more than 80% pollen fertility of ICPA 2047 while, 12 and eight male lines restored pollen fertility of ICPA 2092 and ICPA 2089 respectively. In combining ability and heterosis studies over four environments, the hybrids, gca and sca; and their various interactions with environment were significant suggesting that the hybrids did not have the same relative performances among environments. The CMS line ICPA 2047 and testers ICPL 20128, ICPL 20107 and ICPL 20177 were found to be desirable combiners. For seed yield per plant, the hybrids ICPA 2092 × ICPL 11376, ICPA 2047 × ICPL 20128 and ICPA 2089 × ICPL 20166 were the best specific combinations. None of the hybrids were found stable across environments for most of traits under consideration. The hybrids ICPA 2047 × ICPL 20128, ICPA 2092 × ICPL11376 and ICPA 2047 × ICPL 20177 were found most heterotic over standard check (ICPH 2671) for seed yield. Out of eight SSR markers tested, two markers namely CcM 2542 and CcM 1506 differentiated 15 restorers and nine male sterile lines as they produced amplicons sizes specific to rf locus and male sterility locus.ennullIDENTIFICATION OF FERTILITY RESTORERS AND MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF RESTORER LINES OF PIGEONPEA (Cajanus cajan L.
