SHARMA, C LAMAN KUMAR2023-01-022023-01-022022-11https://krishikosh.egranth.ac.in/handle/1/5810190995The present investigation entitled, “Studies on the effect of EMLA 111 rootstock on growth and leaf nutrient status of exotic apple cultivars” was undertaken at Experimental Farm of Department of Seed Science & Technology, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (HP) during 2021-2022. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), with six different exotic apple cultivars replicated four times. The plant spacing in bud wood bank was 2×2 m. Three plants per replication were randomly selected for recording observations on growth and leaf nutrient status of exotic apple cultivars. Among the different cultivars maximum plant spread (1.44 m2), incremental growth in tree height (62.34 cm), internodal length (4.02 cm), number of shoots per plant (10.00), shoot length (74.07 cm), annual shoot growth (36.03 cm), total number of leaves per plant (43.16), leaf chlorophyll content (2.41 mg g-1), leaf area (28.53 cm2), leaf area index (1.39) was recorded in cultivar Gala Schnico on EMLA 111. However, the maximum numbers of graftable bud sticks (25.50) were also collected in cultivar Gala Schnico on EMLA 111.
