Ex-post-facto research design was followed and the investigation was carried out in six micro watersheds of Andaman district. The final sample consisted of sixty Mitra Kisans and sixty Non-Mitra Kisans. The data were collected by interview method through pre-tested structured interview schedule and analyzed by employing suitable statistical methods. The following findings emerged out of the study. Little over half of the Mitra Kisans were middle aged, half of them had primary education, more than half of them had medium farming experience, over one third had medium farm income, majority of them belong to forward caste, medium extension contact, medium innovativeness, medium achievement motivation and medium management orientation. Little less then two-thirds of the Mitra Kisans had medium role perception and most of them had medium role performance. There was a non-significant difference between role perception and role performance of Mitra Kisans. Extension contact and innovativeness were significantly positive with role perception. Extension contact, innovativeness and management orientation significantly positive relationship with role performance, where as, role perception significantly positive relationship with role performance. Poor attendance of farmers in training programmes, unwilling~less of women to join self help groups and lack of time to - carrying out market survey were the major problems faced by Mitra Kisans in discharging their roles.
