Forty eight (24 Male + 24 Female) rats were randomly divided into eight (I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII and VIII) groups. Each group consists of six animals. Group I served as male control and group V served as female control and received only vehicle till 28 days of dosing period. Group II, III and IV consists of 6 male animals in each group and they received piroxicam at dose of 1, 7 and 15 mg/kg respectively orally till day 28 of dosing period.
