Myostatin (nick name - Schwarzenegger gene) is a strong negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. Myostatin is a cytokine and is expressed at high level in skeletal muscles. DNA extraction was carried out from the blood collected from five animals of each breed (Soviet chinchilla, White giant & Desi) of rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) by phenol : chloroform method.
