The resultant 12 fertile hybrids among the generated 51 hybrids, parents and four checks viz., KBSH 41, KBSH 42, KBSH 44 and KBSH 53 were evaluated in augmented design during Kharif 2018. Four inbred lines viz., GMU 411, GMU 441, K 3 and A 7 were recognized as fertility restorers. While, six inbred lines GMU 342, GMU 362, GMU 379, GMU 400, GMU 423 and GMU 426 were recognized as prevalent sterility maintainers for all three CMS lines. The 20 parents were classified into three clusters by following ‘k-means’ clustering method and cluster means were highly significant for most of the traits, implying diversity among the cluster groups. The line NDCMS 2A and the tester K 3 were identified as good general combiner for seed yield and its component traits. The cross combinations CMS 903A × GMU 411 and NDCMS 2A × GMU 411 were highly heterotic for seed yield and its attributing traits over the standard checks. Hence these hybrids could be further evaluated at multilocation trial for commercial cultivation.ennullIDENTIFICATION OF FERTILITY RESTORERS / STERILITY MAINTAINERS AND ASSESSMENT OF COMBINING ABILITY AND HETEROSIS OF UNTESTED INBRED LINES IN SUNFLOWER (Helianthus annuus L.)Thesis
