Twenty-one genotypes including check variety DKC-8 replicated thrice were evaluated for yield and other horticultural and biochemical traits to select the superior genotype. The experiment was laid out in RCBD in plots of size 2.25 m × 1.80 m. The genotype UHF-CHI-13 performed best in terms of yield and other horticultural traits over standard check variety. High genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation, high heritability coupled with high genetic gain was observed for number of green fruits per plant, number of red fruits per plant, average green fruit weight, average red fruit weight, green fruit length, red fruit length, green fruit breadth at the middle, red fruit breadth at the middle, green fruit yield per plant, fresh ripe yield per plant and total capsaicinoids content in green chilli and dry chilli. Correlation and path analysis when viewed together revealed the importance of number of fruits per plant, average fruit weight, fruit length, fruit breadth and plant height on total fruit yield per plant at green and red fruit stage independently.ennullGENETIC EVALUATION OF CHILLI GENOTYPES FOR HORTICULTURAL TRAITSThesis
