Twelve treatment combinations comprising of three levels of phosphorus (20, 40 and 60 kg P2O5/ha), two levels of sulphur (0, 20 kg S/ha) and two levels of biofertilizer (Without PSB and with PSB) were evaluated in randomized block design with factorial concept and replicated thrice. Phosphorus when applied @ 60 kg/ha recorded significantly higher seed (702 kg/ha) and stover (1135 kg/ha) yield and was at par with application of 40 kg P2O5/ha. Number of branches/plant, number of pods/plant and seeds/pod were also significantly improved due to it. However, it didn’t affect the plant height, seed index and protein content. It also significantly increased the phosphorus and sulphur content and N, P, S uptake in seed and stover, which were at par with 40 kg P2O5/ha. An application of sulphur @ 20 kg S/ha recorded significantly higher branches/plant, pods/plant, seeds/pod, seed yield (656 kg/ha), stover yield (1126 kg/ha), sulphur content and uptake of seed and stover over control. Plant height, seed index and protein content remain unaffected due to it. Seed inoculation of PSB recorded significantly higher number of branches/plant, pods/plant, seeds/pod, seed yield (659 kg/ha) and stover yield (1145 kg/ha). However, it showed nonsignificant effect on plant height, seed index and protein content. It also significantly increased the phosphorus content and uptake as well as N, S uptake in of seed and stover of mothbean, respectively. The post-harvest status of available phosphorus and Sulphur of soil was found significant due to phosphorus and PSB application, while available sulphur was significantly higher with @ 20 kg S/ha. But organic carbon remained unaffected due to phosphorus, sulphur and PSB. For securing higher yield and net realization of kharif mothbean, it is fertilized with phosphorus 40 kg/ha, sulphur 20 kg/ha with liquid form of PSB biofertilizer along with nitrogen (20 kg N/ha) under loamy sand in north Gujarat condition.EnglishEFFECT OF PHOSPHORUS, SULPHUR AND BIOFERTILIZER ON GROWTH, YIELD, QUALITY AND NUTRIENT UPTAKE BY MOTHBEAN (Vigna aconitifolia L.)Thesis
