Pantja goats has known for their excellent adaptation to the hot-humid environment of tarai region, unique physical features similar to deer and commonly reproduce twins. The present studies including milk parameters, hemato-biochemical parameters and udder morphological traits of lactating Pantja goats under field and farm conditions were investigated. Total of thirteen healthy lactating Pantja goats in different parity and lactation stages were selected randomly maintained at the farm (07 goats) and field (06 goats) conditions. Both blood and milk samples were collected once from early lactation (0-30 days), mid lactation (31-60 days) and late lactation (above 61 days) stages. Milk composition parameters of fats percent, EC, pH and CLR were affected by lactation stages in field and farm Pantja goats. Milk total solids percent increased with advance in lactation stages in farm Pantja goats. While milk SCC was increased with advanced in lactation stage in field and farm Pantja goats. These variation in milk leucocytes might be contributing to fluctuation of milk SCC during lactation period. The most common milk leucocytes in lactating Pantja goats were lymphocyte, neutrophil, neutrophil and monocyte ratio. Haematological parameters of Hb concentration, PCV, MCV, MCH, MCHC were at higher levels with the beginning of lactation stage but TEC of field Pantja goats and TLC of farm Pantja goats were increased at late lactation stage. DLC of field Pantja goats increased in lymphocyte and neutrophil percent during late lactation stage, monocyte percent during mid lactation and eosinophil percent during early lactation stage. While in farm Pantja goats monocyte percent was increased during late lactation stage. ALC of eosinophil count was higher in initial lactation and monocyte count in mid lactation stage in field Pantja goats while neutrophil and monocyte counts was higher during late lactation stage in farm Pantja goats. Osmotic fragility of erythrocyte test of normal saline concentration at 0.9% was seen maximum during late lactation stage in field Pantja goats while early lactation stage in farm Pantja goats. Saline concentration at 0.7% and 0.5%, the osmotic fragility of erythrocyte was increased in field Pantja goats but in farm Pantja goats it was only at 0.7% saline concentration. Also osmotic fragility of erythrocyte was higher during mid lactation stage at 0.3% and 0.1% saline concentration in farm Pantja goats. Serum biochemical parameters has shown increased in serum glucose, calcium and phosphorus ratio during early lactation stage while serum phosphorus level during mid lactation stage in field Pantja goats. Serum total protein, calcium and phosphorus levels were higher during late lactation stage in farm Pantja goats. Udder shape has shown to influenced milk leucocytes and some udder morphological traits that increased in milk neutrophil percent and udder column circumference in field and farm Pantja goats with cylindrical shape udder. Bowl shape udder has higher in milk macrophage in field Pantja goats, but higher udder row width was in farm Pantja goats, while lymphocyte percent and udder circumference were increased in both the field and farm Pantja goats. Bottle teat shape in the field and farm Pantja goats has shown higher in milk lymphocyte and neutrophil percent, while funnel teat shape has higher in milk neutrophil, lymphocyte percent and teat apex diameter in the field and farm Pantja goats. Thus, concluded that udder morphological traits and milk leucocytes which may function in maintaining the mammary gland health during lactation in Pantja goats.EnglishSTUDIES ON MILK PARAMETERS AND UDDER MORPHOLOGICAL TRAITS OF LACTATING PANTJA GOATS UNDER FIELD AND FARM CONDITIONSThesis
