N.PATEL, NITIN R2018-06-112018-06-112015http://krishikosh.egranth.ac.in/handle/1/5810051052The present experiment was conducted to study the performance of indigenous sheep under water restriction and rehydration in middle Gujarat agro climatic condition during summer season (10th May to 10th June, 2014) at Instructional Livestock Farm Complex, Department of Livestock Production Management, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat. The study was conducted on 18 hogget (25-30 kg) farm bom unshorn female Patanwadi and Marwari sheep of Instructional Livestock Farm Complex. The experimental animals were randomly divided in to three treatment groups on the basis of body weight comprising of six animals in each treatment viz T1: Control (adlib water),T2: (WR1-20%water restriction) and T3: (WR2-40%water restriction). The experimental animals were maintained on ICAR feeding standard (1998). The experimental animals exposed to 0 % (26.98 ± 0.25, 697.70 ± 24.90, 2.61 ± 0.01 and 59.13 ± 0.30), 20 % (26.57 ± 0.10, 692.27 ± 10.94, 2.64 ± 0.04 and 59.85 ± 0.80) and 40 % (25.40 ±0.55, 640.56 ±18.18, 2.55 ± 0.04 and 56.86 ± 1.00) WR obtained at par body weight (kg), DMI (g/d), DMI (%) and DMI (kg /g w 0.75) at the end of experiment. The body weight of experimental animals under 40 % water restriction declined during P1, P3 and maintained in P4 but increased during P2 which might have nullified the effect of water restriction. The dry matter intake in terms of g/d, percent B. Wt and g/kg w0.75 showed the same pattern of increment from P1 to P2 but then after wards declined up to the end of experiment during the experiment. The DCP and TDN intake in terms of g/d, percent B. Wt and kg/g w 0.75) did not affected by the level of water restriction but declined non significantly up to end of experiment. The loss in body weight, dry matter and nutrient intake recovered significantly after 2nd day of rehydration.enLivestock Production ManagementA StudyPerformance of Indigenous Sheep under Water Restriction and Rehydration in Agro Climatic condition of Middle GujaratThesis
