Completecontrolofthebroadleavedweedsandappreciablecontrol ofgrassyweeds wasachievedbypendiinetlmlin@1.5kg,a.i.ha".Fluchloralin@1.2kga.i.ha'lwas moderateinthecontrolofgrassesandthebroadleavedweedsbutwashietlective againstsedges.Integratedweedcontrolmeasuresbysupplementingonehandweeding to pros-emergent application ofall the three herbicides tried viz, pendiinethalin, nietolachlorand tluchloralinat theirrespectivedosesweresuperiortoherbicides alonetreatmentsandalsotheircombinations. Superiorleafareaindex,drymatterproductionandfruityieldwererecorded inmetolachlor+onehandweedingtreatmentexceptoverabsoluteweedfreecheck. Thebenefit,cost,ratioandnetreturnswerehighestinmetolachlor+onehand weeding followed by other two integrated measures viz lmndiinethalin and fluchloralinoverthefarmerpractice. The results of the experiment suggested that for eltective weed management in tomato an integrated measure of combining pre-emergence application of chemical and hand weeding at 30 days altertransplantation isan absolutenecessity.
