The experiment was laid out in RCBD with 3 replications for evaluating 15 varieties. Analysis of variance revealed existence of wide range of variation among varieties for all the characters except number of primary and secondary branches, days to first flowering and days to 50 per cent flowering. Higher magnitude of PCV and GCV has been noticed for characters viz., seed yield per plant, seed yield per plot, seed yield per hectare, stover yield per plot, stover yield per hectare and biological yield. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as per cent mean was observed for plant height, pod length, stover yield per plant, stover yield per plot, stover yield per hectare and test weight. In correlation, seed yield per plant exhibited positive and significant correlation with plant height, days to 50 per cent flowering, pod length, days to maturity, number of seeds per pod, test weight and harvest index. Path analysis revealed positive direct effect through plant height, number of pods per plant, days to maturity, pod length, number of pods per plant, test weight and harvest index. Hence, DH Local variety can be recommended for cultivation under eastern dry zone of Karnataka for seed purpose. Further, this variety found to be the best variety for multiple traits and can be used for further breeding programme.EnglishEVALUATION OF FENUGREEK (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.)
