Waskar, D.P.Bhalerao, Rahul Vaijnathrao2022-09-092022-09-092022-02-2822018https://krishikosh.egranth.ac.in/handle/1/5810187516A study was undertaken to estimate heterosis and combining ability in thirteen genotypes of ridge gourd viz., Konkan Harita, Padmini, JRGL-13, IC-622015, IC-622016, IC-622017, IC-622020, IC-622021, Arka Sumeet, Swarna Manjari, Pusa Nasdar, Utkal Tripti and Jaipur Long and their hybrids by following line x tester cross analysis. Forty hybrids along with thirteen genotypes and one hybrid check Arka Vikram were evaluated during 2019-2021 at Horticulture Research Scheme (Vegetable), VNMKV, Parbhani. Observations were recorded for fifteen quantitative characters viz., vine length (cm), number of branches per vine, internodal length(cm), number of leaves, days to first female flower appearance, days to first male flower appearance, days to 50% flowering, node at first female flower, fruit length (cm), fruit girth (cm), fruit weight (g), days to first fruit harvest, days to last fruit harvest, number of fruits per vine and total fruit yield per vine (g). The heterosis estimates revealed that significant heterosis was noticed over mid parent, better parent and standard check for plant height, number of leaves, fruit length, fruit girth, fruit weight and total fruit yield per vine. It was noticed that a -4.22 per cent to 110.24 per cent for heterosis over mid parent, -7.54 per cent to 108.39 per cent over better parent and -32.61 per cent to 28.99 per cent over standard check for total fruit yield per vine. The crosses IC 622916 X Pusa Nasadar, IC 622920 X Jaipur Long, Kokan Harita X Swarna Manjari and Padmini x Swarna Manjari showed maximum heterosis over better parent and standard check for total fruit yield per vine and other yield contributing characters. Analysis of variances for combining ability revealed that the mean square due to parents was also highly significant for all the traits studied except for vine length, 50 % flowering, days to last fruit harvest, number of fruits per vine and total fruit yield per vine. Among the parents Kokan Hrita, IC 622917, Arka Sumeet and IC 622915 were found to be good combiners for fruit yield and yield contributing characters. The hybrids JRGL-13 x Jaipur Long, IC 622917 x Utkal Tripti, IC 622920 x Arka Sumeet and Kokan Harita x Pusa Nasdar were found to be the good sca effects for fruit yield and yield contributing characters and useful in further breeding programme.EnglishHeterosis and combining ability studies for yield and yield contributing traits in ridge gourd (Luffa acutangula L.)Thesis
