The ovicidal properties of benzimidazoles were exploited to detect resistance based on the proportion of eggs failing to hatch in solutions of increasing drug concentrations (Le Jambre, 1976; Coles and Simkins, 1977). However, only few reports on benzimidazole resistance in sheep are available in Southern India, particularly in Tamil Nadu. Hence, the present study was designed to detect the resistance to the most commonly used anthelmintic viz. benzimidazole group of drugs against the gastrointestinal parasites of sheep by in vitro egg hatch assay using albendazole as the reference drug.enVeterinary ScienceSmall RuminantsDETECTION OF BENZIMIDAZOLE RESISTANCE IN SHEEP OF TAMLL NADU USING IN VITRO EGG HATCH ASSAYIndian Journal of Small RuminantsArticle
