R.Shukla, Shraddha2019-08-312019-08-312019http://krishikosh.egranth.ac.in/handle/1/5810125224The present investigation entitled, “Evaluation of different varieties of African marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) under Chhattisgarh plains” was conducted for field observation at the Horticulture Research cum Instructional Farm, Raipur (C.G.) during the kharif year of 2018-19. The investigation was carried out in Randomized Block Design with eleven genotypes and”three replications.” Majority of the varieties showed significant variation for growth, flowering and yield. The plant height was reported maximum in Punjab Gainda-1 at 30 DAT while at 60 and 90 DAT, Agni (local) recorded maximum plant height. At 90 DAT (N-S), the plant spread was reported maximum in Ambikapur Cutting while at 90 DAT (E-W), itwas found maximum in Arka Agni. The number of primary branches plant-1” at 60 DAT were obtained maximum in Punjab Gainda-1 whereas secondary branches plant-1 were recorded maximum in Punjab Gainda-1 at 60 DAT and it was found maximum in Durg Cutting at 90 DAT. At 30 DAT, the number of leaves plant-1 was recorded maximum in Punjab Gainda-1 whereas at 60 and 90 DAT, it was found maximum in Agni (Local). Earliest days to first bud appearance was reported in the variety Punjab Gainda-1 whereas first flower opening was recorded in Agni (local) and Punjab Gainda-1. Maximum flower diameter and weight was recorded by Arka Bangara-2 and 50% flowering was recorded maximum in Punjab Gainda-1. The variety Arka Bangara recorded longest duration of flowering.
