The initial laboratory seed analysis comprised of 40 nutri-priming treatments involving zinc sulphate, boric acid, manganese sulphate and monopotassium phosphate as sources of zinc, boron, manganese and phosphorus, respectively. Three different concentrations of these chemicals were used to prepare priming solutions and seeds were primed with the solution of each concentration for three different durations (6, 12 and 24 hours). Treatment T6 (seed priming with 1.5 % ZnSO4 for 24 hours), T24 (seed priming with 1.5 % MnSO4 for 24 hours) and T5 (seed priming with 1.5 % ZnSO4 for 12 hours) emerged as the first, second and third best nutri-priming treatments, respectively and T39 (hydropriming for 24 hours) as the best hydropriming treatment. The priming treatments recording best laboratory results were selected to formulate 20 treatment combinations for the field experiment which involved nutri-priming along with foliar application of GA3 at three different concentrations (100, 150 and 200 ppm). The final results revealed that seed priming with 1.5 % ZnSO4 for 24 hours along with 3 foliar sprays of GA3 @ 200 ppm at six weeks post seedling emergence, 15 days after transplanting of stecklings and last at the initiation of flowering significantly improved days to root harvest, days to 50 percent flowering, days to seed maturity, primary and secondary umbel diameter, number of seeds per primary and secondary umbel, seed yield and quality of harvested seeds. Therefore, this treatment combination can be recommended for quality seed production of carrot cv.
