It has been evidenced that in goats single oral dose administration of nitrofurantoin 20 mg/kg body weight did not produce therapeutic blood level of the drug. The possible reasons for this has been explained. 3. It has been evidenced that the nitrofurantoin when given intravenously as a single dose 5 mg/kg body weight produced therapeutic concentration till 6 hrs which is of great value in curative chemotherapy against susceptible infections in goats. 4. It has been observed that there was a lag in the appearence of the drug in the goat milk after single dose oral administration @ 20 mg/kg body weight. 5. It has been evidenced that a milk therapeutic level of the drug was maintained till 36 hrs after single dose oral administration @ 20 mg/kg body weight suggesting its possible clinical usage in susceptible mammary gland infections in a situation where other antimicrobials prove ineffective.EnglishPharmacokinetics of Nitrofurantoin With Special Reference to Its Distribution, Renal Clearance, Protein Binding and Red Cell Uptake In GoatThesis
