Thesis title: “Study on Adoption of Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) Practices of Potato Crop in Meerut District of Western Utter Pradesh”
ABSTRACT
The present study was carried out during the year 2022-2023, in Meerut districts of Uttar Pradesh. It was observed that 50.00 per cent respondents were observed in the middle age group ranging between 26 to 50 years, most of the respondents were literate, 88.00 per cent, 89.20 per cent were married, 59.20 per cent other backward caste, 89.00 per cent were living in joint family system, 71.00 per cent were having large family size above 08 members in their family, 83.33 per cent were having pucca house, 48.00 per cent were having small land holding (1-2 Hectare), 70.00 per cent were engaged in agriculture as main occupation, 68.00 per cent were not having membership of any organization, 100.00 per cent were having chair, table, fan, electric press, mobile phone, toilet and gas cylinder, 95.00 per cent were having motorcycle, 86.00 per cent preferred the neighbor/relatives as a major source of information, 51.00 per cent using WhatsApp while 31.00 per cent were using kisan call center for mass communication, 42.50 per cent were having annual income of less than Rs- 1,00,000. It is also observed from the study that majority of respondents (75.00 %) were under medium overall knowledge category whereas, 19.67 and
15.34 per cent of them belonged to low and high overall knowledge category, respectively. The majority (70.16 %) of the respondents belonged to medium adoption category. Whereas, 14.16 and 11.16 per cent of the respondents belonged to low and high adoption categories, respectively. Most of the potato growers (98.33%) faced constraints in residues of green manure and previous crops interfere with tillage operations.
