| dc.description.abstract | Garden pea (Pisumsativum L.) (2n=14) belonging to the family Leguminosae is considered as one of the most important source of nutrition throughout the world which contains high amount of digestible protein and carbohydrates. It also contains high levels of amino acids, lysine and tryptophan, which are comparatively low in cereal grains.But the high sensitivity of the crop right from germination to maturity against the biotic and abiotic stresses are the major bottlenecks in higher productivity and net return. Therefore,present investigation was carried out to improve the growth, yield and quality characteristics of garden pea and to provide nutritional security through quality legumes.The experiment was consists of 10 treatments including control with three levels of PGRs (NAA, GA3 and SA) applied as foliar spray. The observations were taken from flowering to yield to evaluate the effect of PGR on growth, yield and quality of garden pea. The results obtained during the present investigation revealed that use of various levels of GA3, NAA and SA improved the growth, yield, and physio-chemical attributes of garden pea. The foliar spray of GA3 @ 20 ppm substantially increased, vegetative growth, total soluble solids and shelling percentage as compared to other treatments. In case of yield and economics of treatment it was observed that NAA @ 40 ppm was found effective. Therefore, the application of GA3 @ 120 ppm and NAA @ 40 ppm can be recommended for garden pea cultivation after further investigation. | en_US |
