Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Development of Yield Forecast Models
with the study on impact of climate change for Rice and Wheat crop in Azamgarh
District of Eastern Uttar Pradesh” consists of five chapters including summary and
conclusion. The purpose of the study is to develop statistical models for studying the
relationship between weather variables and crop yield and to develop different
forecast models based on discriminant function and principal component analysis.
Time series data on rice & wheat yield and weekly data from 23rd to 38th SMW
and 44th to 7th SMW of next year respectively of the following year on five weather
variables viz., minimum temperature, maximum temperature, rainfall, wind velocity
and sun shine hour covering the period from 2000-01 to 2017-2018 have been utilized
to study the relationship between rice & wheat crop yield and weather variables and
development of pre-harvest forecast model. Correlation analysis and 5 regression
models have been developed to study the relationship of rice and wheat crop yield
with the different weather variables.
