The present investigation entitled “Evaluation of Mungbean genotypes against Yellow Mosaic Disease (YMD) and Detection of Begomovirus associated with it” was conducted during Kharif 2020 at Pulses Research farm, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Department of Plant Pathology and Department of Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. In the present study, maximum disease incidence of yellow mosaic disease in mungbean was found in Sirsa followed by Hisar and least was observed in Fatehabad. After conducting the PCR amplification of the DNA extracted from the samples by using MYMIV AV-1 gene primers 500 bp band was observed in the gel documentation system which confirms the prevalence of MYMIV as the causal Begomovirus responsible for causing YMD in Haryana. Among 86 genotypes screened, 15 genotypes were found to be highly resistant to YMD under field conditions and the whitefly population was found to be positive and significant correlation with disease incidence at 5% level of significance. Disease incidence was found to be correlated with bright sunshine hours and maximum temperature in a positive and non-significant manner. While, with relative humidity and rainfall the correlation of disease incidence was found to be negative and non-significant. Disease incidence showed negative and significant correlation at 1% and 5% with minimum temperature and average wind speed respectively. The weather parameters, govern 88.0 per cent towards disease incidence when implied together (R2 = 0.88). The four resistant genotypes namely, SML 2015, MH 1142, MH 421 and MH 2-15 were screened by challenge inoculation under glasshouse conditions and their disease severity ranged between 10-12.5%. The maximum incubation period of 22 days was reported from SML 2015 while, MH 421, MH 1142 and MH 2-15 shoween_US
