Abstract
An experiment entitled “Evaluation of Synergistic Effects of Vermicompost and Beneficial Microbes on Pea Crop” was carried out in net house of department of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU, Varanasi. The experiment consisted of 15 treatments comprising of different doses of vermicompost singly and in combination with seed treatment by Trichoderma harzianum and Pseudomonas fluorescensseparatelywith 3 replication in each treatment. Vermicompostin different doses was mixed with soil and filled in polybags. Seeds of pea (Azad P-3 variety) were selected for the present study. After 30 days of sowing various plant growth parameters were measuredlike shoot length, root length, fresh shoot weight, fresh root weight, dry shoot weight and dry root weight. Biochemical analysis of plant was done, which includes total phenol content (TPC), phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), peroxidase (PO), analysis. For biochemical analysis two pea plants was collected from each pot 30 days after sowing and stored at 4oC until it is used for analysis. The application of different levels of vermicompost significantly resulted in increasedplant growth parameters like shoot length, root length, total fresh and dry weight of shoots and roots and also enhanced production of defense–related compounds. Among all the treatments vermicompost @ 40 g / kg of soil was found very effective in all growth parameters as well as in plant defense – related compounds. Whereas, in case of treatment combinations application of vermicompost @ 30 g / kg of soil along with seed treatment with Trichoderma harzianum hasgiven best results among all 15 treatments where as application of vermicompost @ 40 g / kg soil and seed treatment with Pseudomonas fluorescens shown better performance.
