Abstract
A field experiment was conducted at the University of Agricultural Sciences,
Dharwad during kharif season of 2011, to study the effect of organic, inorganic and
biofertilizers on growth, seed yield and quality in okra var. Arka Anamika under
rainfed condition. The experiment consisted of 12 treatments comprising of RDF and
various organic manures viz., RDF (125:75:63 kg NPK/ha) + FYM 25 t/ha, RDF
(125:75:63 kg NPK/ha) + 2.5 t VC/ha RDF (125:75:63 kg NPK/ha) + BF (Phosphate
solubalizing bacteria), RDF (125:75:63 kg NPK/ha) + 1.25t NC/ha. The experiment
was laid out in randomized block design with three replications.
Results of field experiment (kharif 2011) revealed that, application of RDF
(125:75:63 kg NPK/ha) +2.5 t vermicompost/ha records the higher plant height
(20.60, 89.33, and 168.53 cm) number of leaves (9.40, 32.40 and 34.43) at 30.60 DAS
and at harvest respectively and records lesser days to Days to 50% flowering (41.07)
Days to pod initiation (47.73) and Days to crop maturity (88.67) followed by RDF
(125:75:63 kg NPK/ha) + Farm yard manure 25 t/ha.
Results revealed that, the application of RDF (125:75:63 kg NPK/ha) + 2.5t
VC/ha gave higher seed yield (1389.1 kg/ha) followed by - RDF (125:75:63 kg
NPK/ha) + FYM 25 t/ha (1111.10 kg/ha). The seed yield was significantly higher
with the application of RDF along with 2.5t VC/ha was attributed to, the number of
fruits per plant (19.33), number of seeds per fruit (53.80) and 100 seed weight (7.23
g).
Among the treatments, application of 2.5 t VC per ha along with RDF
recorded significantly higher germination (85.33%), root length (12.37 cm), shoot
length (27.17 cm), seedling vigour index (3373), seedling dry weight (16.27 mg),
followed by RDF + FYM 25 t per ha .
