Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Effect of FYM and nitrogen on yield and nutrient stoichiometry of pearl millet under custard based Agri-horti system” was conducted during kharif season of 2018 at agriculture research farm of Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The experiment was performed in eleven years old custard apple plantation which was planted in August, 2006 at a spacing of 5 × 5 m along with three FYM level (control, 10 and 15 ton ha-1) and four different rates of nitrogen (control, 50,80 and 110 kg ha-1). The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomised block design with three replication. Result revealed that significant variations were observed due to different level of farm yard manure and application of 15 ton/ha recorded significantly highest plant height (161.25 cm), internode length (16.93), no. of tillers plant-1 (1.11), dry matter accumulation (30.81g), leaf area index (2.33), grain yield (1632.67 kg ha-1) and stover yield (5181.14 kg ha-1). Successive increase in nitrogen application of 110 kg ha-1 recorded significantly highest plant height (177.66 cm), internode length (18.16), panicle length (24.17 cm), test weight (10.02 g), grain yield (1770.08 kg ha-1, stover yield (5068.44 kg ha-1), agronomic efficiency (4.49 kg grain kg-1 N uptake) and agronomic recovery efficiency (29.07 %). Significantly maximum gross return (44653.42 Rs ha-1) and B:C ratio (1.64 %). Among sources of nitrogen, application significantly highest nutrient stoichiometry in grain N:P (2.01), P:K (0.75) and N:K (1.21).
