Abstract
A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Farm, Rajiv Gandhi South Campus(Banaras Hindu University), Barkachha, Mirzapur (U.P.) during rainy season of 2018 to evaluate the effect of nitrogen and sulphur on the performance of blackgram,( Vigna mungoL.) under custard apple ( Annona squamosa L.) based Agri-Horti system. Experiment was laidout in a factorial randomized complete block design with three replication the treatmentsconsistent different level of nitrogen and sulphur i.e 0 kg N + 0 kg S ha -1 ( N 1 S 1 ), 0 kg N +20 kg S ha -1 (N 1 S 2 ), 0 kg N + 30 kg S ha -1 ( N 1 S 3 ), 0 kg N +40 kg S ha -1 ( N 1 S 4 ), 20 kg N + 0kg S ha -1 (N 2 S 1 ), 20 kg N + 20 kg S ha -1 ( N 2 S 2 ), 20 kg N + 30 kg S ha -1 ( N 2 S 3 ), 20 kg N + 40kg S ha -1 ( N 2 S 4 ), 40 kg N + 0 kg S ha -1 ( N 3 S 1 ), 40 kg N + 20 kg S ha -1 ( N 3 S 2 ), 40 kg N + 30kg S ha -1 ( N 3 S 3 ) and 40 kg N + 40 kg S ha -1 ( N 3 S 4 ), in eleven years aged custard apple treewhich were planted in august 2008 at a spacing of 5×5 m 2 . Blackgram was sown as intercropin the alleys of custard apple tree. Each replication was divided into 12 equal plots andtreatment was randomly allocated within the block for each replication. Based on theexperimental results, it could be recommended that cultivation of blackgram with applicationof 40 kg ha -1 nitrogen and 40 kg ha -1 sulphur intercropped in alley of custard apple may bebeneficial for boosting grain, yield, growth, higher net return, and better quality andprofitability of agri-horti system in Vindhyan region.
