| dc.description.abstract | The present investigation entitled “Evaluation of F1 progenies of chilli (Capsicum annum L.)” and to carry out growth, flowering attributes, fruit parameter yield and yield attributing characters. Twenty-eight progenies and three check were sown in a randomized block design with two replications, during kharif 2019-2020 at Horticulture Research Scheme (Vegetable), College of Agriculture, VNMKV, Parbhani, Maharashtra. Among the twenty-eight F1 progenies and three check of chilli for growth, flowering, fruits, yield and most of the yield attributing characters along with incidence of pests (thrips) and diseases (leaf curl, powdery mildew) varied significantly among all the progenies under study. The progenies BSPRL-189 x Pusa Sadabahar performed better for growth characters such as plant height (87.84 cm) and maximum number of primary branches in the progeny BSPRL-224 x Phule Jyoti (9.41) and maximum plant spread noticed in the progeny BSPRL-224 x Phule Jyoti (69.01 cm). As far as flowering behavior is concern, the progeny BSPRL-188 x Bydagi of chilli took minimum (28.70 days) to initiation of flowering, BSPRL-189 x Pusa Sadabahar was recorded minimum (36.30 days) for 50% flowering and also in the progeny BSPRL-188 x Bydagi required minimum (44.95 days) to 50% fruit set. Among the twenty-eight progenies and three check of chilli, length of fruit was recorded highest in the progeny BSPRL-188 x Parbhani Tejas (10.83 cm), maximum fruit diameter in the progeny BSPRL-189 x Konkan Kirti (10.63 mm) and maximum length of pedicel in the check variety BSS-273 (3.36 cm). while the progenies BSPRL-188 x PBNC-1 performed well for yield attributes such as average fruit weight (6.50 g) and highest number of fruits per plant (389.50) was observed in the progeny BSPRL-224 x Konkan Kirti). The progeny BSPRL-224 x PBNC-1 were found to be earliest (68.08 days) with respect to first picking, and longest harvest duration was recorded in the progeny BSPRL-189 x Pusa Sadabahar (59.80 days). While the progeny BSPRL-224 x Pusa Jwala performed well for yield attributes such as green fruit yield per plant (1546.50 g) and green fruit yield per plot (32.48 kg) and total green fruit yield (515.50 qt/ha). With respect to quality parameters, the progeny BSPRL-188 x Bydagi was exhibited the highest number of seeds per fruit (101.56), and the progeny BSPRL- 224 x G-4 was recorded significantly highest capsaicin content of (0.570 %), respectively. The minimum incidence of thrips (4.20 %) was recorded in the progeny BSPRL-189 x Phule Jyoti and the minimum incidence of powdery mildew was recorded in the progenies BSPRL-189 x PBNC-1 (7.86 %). Minimum incidence of leaf curl was found in the progeny BSPRL-189 x Phule Jyoti (3.30 %). On the basis of plant growth habit, flowering attributes, fruit parameters yield, yield attributing characters and consumer preference. The progenies BSPRL-189 x Pusa Sadabahar, BSPRL-224 x Phule Jyoti, BSPRL-188 x Bydagi, BSPRL-189 x Pusa Sadabahar, BSPRL-188 x Parbhani Tejas, BSPRL-189 x Konkan Kirti, BSPRL-188 x PBNC-1, BSPRL-224 x PBNC-1, BSPRL-224 x Konkan Kirti, BSPRL-224 x Pusa Jwala, BSPRL-188 x Bydagi, BSPRL-224 x G-4, BSPRL-189 x PBNC-1, BSPRL-189 x Phule Jyoti , BSPRL-189 x Parbhani Tejas, BSPRL-224 x Parbhani Tejas, BSPRL-224 x Phule Jyoti were found to be promising and it may be selected for further study in F2 generation. | en_US |
