Abstract
Abstract
The present study has been carried out on job burnout and satisfaction of healthcare workers
in relation to work-life balance during covid pandemic in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Multistage
random sampling technique was done with a total sample size of 300 healthcare workers. Primary
data were collected through a well-designed pre-tested schedule by survey method. The required
secondary data were collected from various publications and government departments. Therefore,
data was analyzed through a combination of statistical tools like Principal Component Analysis,
Garrett Mean Score Analysis, Likert Scale Ranking Analysis, Chi-Square Test Analysis and other
statistical tools. It was observed that the maximum sampled healthcare workers had good work
experience. The results of factor analysis revealed that statements related to extent of work life
balance among healthcare workers were associated with careless, absent minded, ignorance, distress,
hectic, confusion and unenthusiastic since their correlation with PC1 is higher than 0.50. In case of
extent of job burnout, the results of PCA revealed that the first factor extracted was “exhausted,
lethargy, tensed, burden, diminished, declining, disappointed, dispraise, overwork and callouses” and
explains the maximum variability in healthcare workers in the study area. In case of extent of job
satisfaction, the results of PCA revealed that the first factor extracted was “compensation, working
conditions, institutional practices, recognition and advancement” and explains the maximum
variability in healthcare workers in the study area. Since, overall level, the boredom was reported as
the major problem and constraint with rank Ist. The results of various suggestive measures for making
work life balance program success in the study area were ranked on the Likert scale which showed
that suggestive measures i.e., time management attains Ist rank with a score of 674, followed by
prioritizing health which attain IInd rank, by proper planning and stress management training which
was ranked IIIrd. It was also found that healthcare workers were influenced by their peer group and
family so some amount of training coverage may eventually reach larger groups. Therefore, it is
suggested that services should be revamped and strengthen to fulfil the existing needs of the
healthcare workers in the study area.
