Abstract
The present study was undertaken with the aim of developing Reproductive health and Family planning Educational Package for tribal women. This study was conducted in Balicha village of Girwa tahsil from Udaipur city .The total sample for the present study consisted of 60 tribal women out of them 30 were assigned in experimental group and remaining 30 in control group .For pre and post testing, a structured interview schedule was developed to assess the knowledge of subjects regarding Reproductive health and Family planning. Pre testing was done on experimental and controlled group to assess their level of knowledge regarding reproductive health and family planning. The low scores on pre testing in both experimental and controlled group indicated the need of developing an educational package. Multimedia is a very interesting and effective way of presentation Thus; a multimedia educational package was developed in natural tribal setting with use of various direct and indirect teaching methods utilizing simple language. The script of the package and VCD were given to subjects matter specialists for critical and technical evaluation. This VCD was pilot tested on 20 adolescent who were not included in final sample. Necessary modifications were made accordingly and VCD was finalized for further research. This developed VCD was projected on experimental group in Balicha village. The programme was completed in six days with approximately two hours/ day wherein respondents were exposed to 2 sessions of one hour each. Five days after completion of intervention programme, post testing was done on experimental and controlled groups. The difference between pre and post test between experimental group, controlled group and post test difference between experimental and controlled group were separately calculated to find out gain in knowledge of the respondents. The data were analyzed using percentage, and paired t- test. Results of pre testing revealed that respondents from both experimental and controlled group had very low knowledge about all the dimensions of reproductive health and family planning. Scores of post testing clearly revealed that experimental group had good increase in knowledge compared to controlled group. Further a significant difference was found in experimental and controlled group at the at the time of post testing in all the dimensions of reproductive health and family planning, as the calculated t- values were found to be highly significant at 1 percent level of significance. On the basis of results it can be concluded that this intervention package is highly effective. In view of high content validity score given by experts and also results obtained in present research this VCD can prove to be highly beneficial for use in tribal and rural setting by students, GOS and NGO's working for wellbeing of adolescent girls and women. This can be dubbed in other regional languages for wider use throughout the country.
