Abstract
(An abstract of the dissertation submitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Agriculture, Vegetable Science). The present study entitled,“Effect of varieties and integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and quality of chilli ( Capsicum annuum Linn.)’’ was conducted at Research Farm, J.N.K.V.V., College of Agriculture, Tikamgarh (M.P.) during rabi 2012-13. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with three replications. The factor A treatments consisted of V 1 [Pusa Jwala] and V2 [Garima-12]. The factor B treatments consisted of five manures and fertilizer (combination) viz., I1 - Control (RDF -100:50:50 kg NPK ha-1), I2 - RDF + FYM (10 t ha-1), I3 - RDF + Vermicompost (2.5 t ha-1), I4 - RDF + Vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza @ 2 kg ha-1and I5 - RDF + Azospirillum @ 2 kg ha-1 . The objectives of the experiment were to study the effect of varieties, organic manures and biofertilizers on growth, yield and quality of chilli On the basis of findings of present investigation, it may be concluded that Chilli variety Garima-12 recorded maximum fruit yield of 6192.8 kg ha-1 over the other variety Pusa Jwala (5970.8 kg ha-1) while INM treatment showed that highest green chilli yield of 6815.5 kg ha-1 was recorded with I3 (N:P:K100:50:50+vermicompost @ 2.5 t ha-1) where as it was lowest (4218 kg ha-1) with the treatment I1 (100:50:50 N:P:K kg ha-1). Perusal of data revealed that interaction of variety X biofertilizer was found non-significant but combination I3 x V2 was numerically superior (7105 kg ha-1 fruit yield) over rest of the combination. Highest gross monetary return of ` ₹248675 was obtained with the combination V2 I3 i.e., Garima 12 x RDF + Vermicompost (2.5 t ha-1) where as it was lowest in V1 I1 (`₹144305) Net return shows the profitability of the particular treatment. In case of net return, highest (`₹191739) was obtained with the combination of V2 I3 (Garima 12 x RDF + Vermicompost). While least (`₹91869) net return was calculated for treatment i.e. Control (RDF 100:50:50 kg NPK ha-1) Findings of the study revealed that highest B:C ratio of 1:3.37 was recorded under combination V2I3 (Garima 12 x RDF + Vermicompost 2.5 t ha-1) while it was minimum (1:1.82) with the V1 I1 (Control (RDF -100:50:50 kg NPK ha-1)
