Abstract
Banana (Musa paradisiaca L.), which belongs to the family
Musaceae, is one of the most important fruit crops of the world. Banana being
perishable in nature, can not be stored well for a longer period of time at ambient
temperature. For good market price it is required that fruit must be transported to
the distant market without spoilage. The present study is undertaken to investigate
the “Effect of post harvest application of growth regulators, wax emulsion and
packaging on physical characters and shelf life of Banana cv. “Robusta”. This
experiment was conducted at the laboratory of Department of Horticulture,
B.A.College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during the year
2006 under Completely Randomized Design (Factorial) and repeated thrice with
seven treatments and two storage conditions i.e. without packaging and with
packaging. Each treatment consisted of one hand i. e. 12 fruits were dipped in the
GA3 100 ppm and 150 ppm, Kinetin 10 ppm and 15 ppm for five (5) minutes and
air dried for 30 minutes, while wax was weighed and it was dissolved in a hot
water to make 10 liter solution
