Abstract
At the present stage of Rural development, when the technological know-how is available for taking great strides forward in rural India, it is the human element that is to be exploited for the development. The key to rural development lies in the mind, heart and hands of the rural people. It is the motivated technology which must release the lock and swing open the door to modernization. The single mo$t force which accelerate the process. is the effective dissemination of adequate information. In other words, an effective communication system plays an important role in the rapid growth of rural sector. Today, we have so much to communicate and to so many people and on so many aspects of rural development that the government agencies can hardly cope up with this gigantic task. How-long the formal change agents would rely on individual contacts for the spread of messages within their limited time resources. Similarly no government or country can afford to provide extensive manpower resources, duly equipped and trained in dissemination of technical know-how to cater to the needs of rural population or afford to finance the administration of the entire rural development through paid workers alone. On the other hand, numerous researches have established, that indirect sources of information communication rank very high as far a$ credibility of information sources with the rural people a:re concerned.
