Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during the rabi season of 2017-18 at the
Agronomy Instructional Farm, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUAT, Udaipur.
Total number of the experimental treatments were eleven such as 2, 4-D Na salt at
500 g a.i. ha-1 (T1); 2, 4-D Ester at 500 g a.i. ha-1 (T2); carfentrazone at 20 g a.i. ha-1
(T3), metsulfuron methyl + surfactant at 4 g a.i. ha-1 (T4), 2, 4-D Na + carfentrazone at
400 g + 20 g a.i. ha-1 (T5), 2, 4-D E + carfentrazone at 400 g + 20 g a.i. ha-1 (T6),
metsulfuron + carfentrazone + surfactant at 4 g + 20 g a.i. ha-1 (T7), halauxifen methyl
ester + florasulam + polyglycol at 12.76 g a.i. ha-1 (T8), halauxifen + florasulam +
carfentrazone + surfactant at 12.76 g + 20 g a.i. ha-1 (T9), weedy check (T10), weed
free (T11). All these herbicides were applied as post-emergence at 32 days after
sowing. The experiment was carried out in the Randomized Block Design and
replicated thrice. The barley variety BH 959 was used as test crop in the experiment.
Among all the herbicidal treatments with respect to control of broad-leaved
weed flora, the herbicide mixtures significantly brought out the maximum degree of
reduction when compared to the sole application of any herbicide at various crop
growth stages. The maximum total weed control efficiencies (84.69, 83.11 and 81.03
%, respectively at 30, 60 days after herbicide spray and at harvest) were recorded by
spraying the herbicide mixture halauxifen + florasulam + polyglycol.
The maximum dry matter accumulation of the crop plants (315.67 g metre-1
row length) was recorded under the weed free followed by halauxifen + florasulam +
polyglycol (311.33 g metre-1 row length) treated plot. The values of yield attributes
viz. effective tillers 0.5 metre-1 row length, grains ear-1, grain weight ear-1, ear length
and test weight were increased under the effect of herbicide treatment halauxifen +
florasulam + polyglycol.

The maximum grain yield (3950.00 kg ha-1) was recorded under the weed free
condition and it was followed by the herbicide treatment halauxifen + florasulam +
polyglycol (3846.00 kg ha-1). The highest biological yield (9800.00 kg ha-1) was
recorded in the weed free which was followed by halauxifen + florasulam +
polyglycol (9596.00 kg ha-1). However, the maximum straw yield (5850.00 kg ha-1)
was recorded under the weed free followed by halauxifen + florasulam + polyglycol
(5750.00 kg ha-1).
All the weed control treatments caused the increase in uptake of N, P, K by the
both grain and straw of barley crop compared to weedy check. The maximum uptake
of nitrogen (80.14 kg ha-1), phosphorus (23.24 kg ha-1) and potassium (96.86 kg ha-1)
was recorded under the weed free followed by halauxifen + florasulam + polyglycol.
As a consequence, statistically superior net return and B-C ratio (` 40930 ha-1
and 2.35, respectively) were recorded under the herbicide treatment halauxifen +
florasulam + polyglycol as compared to weedy check.
