Serum Calcium, Phosphorus and Magnesium in Buffalo Calves from Birth to Sexual Maturity

Abstract
A study was conducted in Surti buffalo calves weaned at birth and fed colostrum about 15-30 minutes after. They were reared appropriately to know the changes in serum calcium, phosphorus and magnesium from birth to sexual maturity. The phosphorus reduced from birth to puberty and showed and ascendendy towards sexual maturity. The magnesium showed little variation from birth to sexual maturity. The sex difference was significant for serum calcium and magnesium with former being higher in females and latter in males. The sex difference in serum phosphorus level was non-significant.
