Abstract
A field experiment was conducted on “Study of growth, yield and nutrient stoichiometry of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties” during the Rabi season of the year 2021-22 at agriculture Research Farm, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on sandy clay loam soil with pH 7.41, low in organic carbon (0.38%), low in available nitrogen (201.23 kg ha-1) and medium in available phosphorus (18.82 kg ha-1) and potassium (180.41 kg ha-1). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with three replication and 14 wheat varieties viz. HUW 234, HUW 711, HUW 510, HUW 669, HUW 468, HD 2967, SUPER 252, SUPER 272, SUPER 303, PBW 154, PBW 343, PBW 373, PBW 502 and DBW 187. The plant sample were recorded at 30, 60, 90 DAS and at harvest whereas, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content in plant were recorded at boot just swollen stage (Z45), anthesis half-way (Z65), kernel watery ripe (Z71) and soft dough (Z85). The results revealed that with the wheat variety PBW 154 recorded highest plant height, tillers per meter row, shoot dry weight (gm-1), net assimilation rate (NAR), grain, straw and biological yield (kg/ha). The variety PBW 373 recorded highest nitrogen and potassium content (%) at all the growth stages.
