Abstract
Barley (Hordium vulgare L.) is a herbaceous plant that belongs to the
grass family and cultivated during winter season. Barley is one of the most
significant cereals and main resource of food for high amount of human being
living in cooler semi arid extent of the worldwide, where wheat, rice, maize
and other cereals are less adapted. It is more tolerant to saline and alkaline
soils and drought resistant crop grown under adverse conditions than other
cereals as well as most significant and profitable rabi cereal crop of India not
exclusively in terms of land area, but either in terms of its versatility for
acceptation lower broad scale of agro climatic zones and crop growing
condition. It is an important staple food crop of India and commonly exploited
as food for people and feed for animate being and poultry birds (Singh et al.,
2012).
