The field experiment was conducted at the College Agronomy
Farm, B.A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during
the rabi season of the year 2006-07 to study the Influence of irrigation schedules

loamy sand in texture and having a good drainage. The soils was low in organic
matter and available nitrogen, medium in available phosphorous and high in
potassium. The experiment comprised of combinations of four irrigation
schedules based on IW:CPE ratios viz., I1: (0.4 IW:CPE ratio); I2: (0.6 IW:CPE
ratio); I3: (0.8 IW:CPE ratio) and I4 (Flood irrigation- one month interval between
two irrigation) and four herbicidal weed control treatments viz., W1: hand weeding
