Students’ educational achievement (educational performance) of higher secondary students are affected by a number of factors such as intelligence, study habits, school environment and especially parents. Study Habits are the practices or the process of gaining information through learning and play an important role in improving the academic achievement. Parental encouragement and involvement in education has been related to better academic performance and increase in positive attitudes and behaviors of adolescents at school. Self prepared questionnaire was used to delineate socio-personal variables and Parental Involvement scale (PIS) by Chauhan and Ganotra-Arora (2001) was used for assessing parental involvement Study habit was assessed by Study Habit scale (SHS) by Rani and Jaidka (2015). The results revealed that majority of respondents were in average category of study habit and perceived moderate level of parental involvement. Study habit had a significant correlation with parental involvement. It was also revealed that there is no significant association between socio economic variable and study habit of higher secondary students. It can be interpreted from these results that higher parental involvement in study habits resulted in better study habits among children, while reverse was true for poor parental involvement. Parental involvement was found to be a strong predictor of all dimensions of study habits and overall study habits in studies by students.
