Abstract
Experiment on Techno-Economic Performance of the Agrivoltaic Net House for
Cultivation of Capsicum was conducted during December ’18 to March ’19 at the
Experimental field of REE department, College of Agriculture Engineering and
Technology, JAU, Junagadh. The experimental Agrivoltaic structure having 24 solar
panels each of 150 W capacity was designed and installed earlier with total rating of
SPV power plant was about 3.6 kW occupied over 76.94 m2
area. For experimental
study, three environmental conditions i.e. Agrivoltaic Insect Net House (covered roof)
crop cultivation (S1), Agrivoltaic Insect Net House (open roof) crop cultivation (S2) and
open field crop cultivation (S0) with each having Three treatments i.e. raised bed with
silver black mulch (T1), raised bed with silver black mulch + Bio Fertilizer (T2) and
Soil less media having cocopit + Vermicompost + Bio Fertilizer (T3) were arranged as
per statistical design. The daily environmental data i.e.air temperature, RH and light
intensity and solar radiation were recorded and computed weekly and monthly average
for analysis. The experiment was laid out in two factor completely randomize design
with three replications comprising of total nine treatment combinations. The response
of Capsicum crop was evaluated in terms of number of fruits per plant, fruit weight (g),
fruit diameter (cm), yield per plant (kg) and fruit yield per hectare (t ha-1
).
The minimum and maximum monthly average air temperature remains higher in
Agrivoltaic Insect Net House (covered roof) condition as compared to Agrivoltaic
Insect Net House (open roof) and open field condition whereas average and maximum II
monthly light intensity remains higher in open field condition as compared to Both the
Agrivoltaic Insect Net Houses during the experimental period.
The final yield and reference yield were found highest in February and March
months respectively, whereas in December month it was found minimum among all
months. The overall performance ratio during the experimental period was observed as
0.78.The capacity factor was found highest in March month whereas for December
month it was found minimum among all months. The overall system efficiency during
the experimental period was found as 8.49 %.
Total nine harvesting of Capsicum fruits were taken during entire crop season
and highest crop yield was 15.29 t/ha observed in treatment combination of Agrivoltaic
Insect Net House crop cultivation: Raised bed with silver black mulch + Bio Fertilizers
as well as other crop parameters i.e. Maximum weight of fruit and maximum diameter
of fruit was observed in treatment combination of Agrivoltaic Insect Net House crop
cultivation: Soil less media + Bio Fertilizers.
For two different conditions cost economics of Agrivoltaic Insect Net House
system was evaluated i.e. (1) capital investment made by farmer without subsidy and
(2) capital investment made by farmer with subsidy.
Highest net profit and BCR under Agrivoltaic Insect net House (covered roof)
system was found ₹ 152.66/m2 and 1.84 respectively for treatment S1T2 with lowest
payback period was found as 4.49 years for this treatment without subsidy
consideration. With consideration of subsidy, highest net profit and BCR under
Agrivoltaic Insect net House (covered roof) system was found ₹ 191.05/m2 and 2.34
respectively for treatment S1T2 as well as lowest payback period was found as 3.10
years for the same treatment.
It was revealed that treatment combination Agrivoltaic Insect Net House crop
cultivation: Raised bed with silver black mulch + Bio Fertilizers should be used for
cultivation of Capsicum in the winter season
