Abstract
A field experiment entitled “Effect of FYM and biodigester liquid
manure on soil properties and yield of irrigated sunflower” was
conducted at ARS, Kathalgere, during Kharif of 2010 on sandy clay loam
soil to study the effect of different levels of FYM and biodigester liquid
manure on growth, yield and soil properties of irrigated sunflower and to
compute B:C ratio. The treatment consists the combination of biodigester
manure equivalent to 40, 60, 80 and 100 kg N and 5, 7.5 and 10 tones
FYM compared with NPK fertilizer alone. The experiment was laid out in
a randomized complete block design with fourteen treatments replicated
thrice. Significantly higher plant height (162.83 cm), number of leaves
per plant (7.40 plant-1), 100 seed weight (5.00 g), seed weight per head
(41.99 g), seed yield (23.33 q ha-1) and stalk yield (26.68 q ha-1) was
recorded in the treatment receiving 10 t FYM+biodigester manure
equivalent to 100 Kg N ha-1 and it was on par with the treatments
receiving 7.5 t FYM+biodigester manure equivalent to 100 Kg N ha-1 and
Rec.FYM+62.5:75:62.5 Kg NPK ha-1. Significantly lower Bulk density
(1.31 Mg m-3), maximum water holding capacity (29.70%) and higher
total nutrient uptake of N, P and K (130.0, 23.82 and 112.09 kg ha-1 NPK
respectively) was recorded in treatment receiving 10 t FYM+biodigester
manure equivalent to 100 Kg N ha-1. Significantly higher available N, P
and K (267.72, 30.93 and 219.30 kg ha-1 respectively) after harvest was
recorded in treatment receiving 7.5 t FYM+biodigester manure equivalent
to 40 kg N ha-1. The pH, EC, OC, available micronutrient (Zn and Fe) and
oil content after harvest were not differed significantly due to application
of different levels of FYM and biodigester liquid manure. Higher B:C (2.3)
ratio was recorded in the treatment receiving Rec. FYM + 62.5:75:62.5 Kg
NPK ha-1.
