Abstract
Developmental defects of the facial region and jaws are quite obvious, mainly because they are not concealed within the body. The relatively frequent occurrence of malformation of the face is explained by the complexity of the developmental processes in this region. General failure of usual transformation results in a featureless face (Aprosopus). Other defects like microstomas, cylops, macrostomas, micrognathuses, or agnathus have been recorded in human as common along with hare lip or cleft palate. The reasons for these have been broadly classified under hereditary and environmental factors in human embryology. As for the anomalies in domestic animals, excepting for their academic importance these have no economic significance or aesthetic value. The occurrence of a monstrosity of a rare variety in a pig is recorded here in.
