Abstract
Teaching has been identified as a particularly stressful occupation
(Cacha, 1981). Some aspects of the job such as disciplinary problems,
student apathy, over crowded class rooms, involuntary transfers,
excessive paper work, inadequate salaries and lack of administrative
support are among the stressors that confront teachers.
The performance of any University can be best judged by the
competence of teachers and accomplishment of its objectives. There is a
general impression that objectives of a University are far from being
fulfilled and some of the factors ascribed for it were stress of teachers.
