Abstract
Snakes, one of the endangered species of animals, are extinguishing because of serveral factors, and infectious diseases are one among them. Infectious diseases are one among them. Infectious diseases are often undiagnosed and hence medicinal cure coult not be taken at the right time to save them. It is difficult to provide medicine orally since snakes are fed once in a week. However, broad spectrum antibiotics were recommended in infections with Salmonella sp. (Arora, 1994). Bacterial infections are not uncommon in snakes (Kaura et al., 1971; Rao et al., 1980; Mishra and Verma, 1981). The present communication deals with a case report of bacterial septicaemia in a Russell's viper (Vipera russelli) at captivity.
