Abstract
The effect of feeding diets containing cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) and T2 toxin at the levels of 10 ppm and 1 ppm, respectively have been assessed on certain hematological parameters in broiler chicken from 0 to 28 days of age. The packed cell volume (PCV) and hemoglobin (Hb) levels have been found decreased in the toxin-treated groups as compared to the control. The differences have been found highly significant (P < 0.01) for both PCV and Hb between the control and toxin-treated groups. No significant differece has been observed among the toxin-treated groups. Also, significant (P < 0.05) CPA-T2 interaction has been observed for both PCV and Hb. Thus, it has been concluded that CPA and T2 either individually or in combination adversely affect the hematopoietic system of broiler chicken by causing anemia.
