Abstract
ABSTRACT The present study was conducted with the aim of finding out the most suitable media, temperature and pH for the growth of P. djamor along with the selection of suitable substrate to enhance the growth and yield of P. djamor. Study was carried out to determine the effect of different culture media (PDA medium, Rice extract medium, Gram extract medium, Tapioca balls extract medium and Mango bark extract medium), temperature (21°C, 23°C, 25°C, 27°C and 29°C), pH level (6, 6.5, 7, 7.5 and 8) and substrates (wheat straw, wheat straw + paddy straw (1:1), wheat straw + sawdust (1:1), wheat straw+ paddy straw+ tamarind leaves (1:1:1), and wheat straw + paddy straw + Bermuda grass (1:1:1)) on the growth of Pleurotus djamor. Maximum radial growth was observed in Gram extract medium. Optimum temperature and pH for growth was found to be 29 °C and 7 respectively. Wheat straw was found best as best substrate alone as well as in combination with other substrate for P. djamor cultivation.
