Abstract
Study was carried out to determine the prevalence of Q fever and Brucellosis in organized sheep farms of Jammu, India using different serological tests viz., I-ELISA for Q fever and RBPT and STAT for brucellosis respectively. Total of 186 serum samples from sheep were tested for Q fever by I-ELISA and for Brucellosis by RBPT and STAT. In Q fever, seroprevalence of 12.36% was recorded. Highest prevalence of Q fever was recorded among sheep flocks from Government Sheep Breeding and Research Farm-Billawar by I-ELISA. A higher prevalence rate in 6-9yr age group in sheep was obtained whereas females had exhibited higher prevalence than males. The overall seroprevalence of brucella about 1.16% was recorded in sheep. A higher prevalence was observed among sheep flocks from Government Sheep Breeding and Research Farm-Billawar by RBPT and STAT compared to Government Sheep Breeding and Research Farm-Reasi and Government Sheep Breeding Farm-Panthal. The age group of 6-9yr and females had higher prevalence of brucellosis in sheep flocks.
