Abstract
A field research entitled “Effect of organic manures and vermiwash on
growth, yield and quality of cowpea [Vigna unguiculata(L.) Walp.] cv. Pusa
Komal” was conducted at Horticulture farm, Horticulture Department, Rajasthan
College of Agriculture, Udaipur during kharif season of 2019.The results revealed
that treatment application of T13 (50% RDN through FYM + 50% RDN through neem
cake + Vermiwash 10% spray at 10% flowering stage)significantly showedhighest
values of different characters of cowpea viz., plant height, number of leaves plant-1,
number of branches plant-1, number of leaves plant-1, minimum time taken for first
picking,maximum number of pods plant-1, weight of pods, green pod yield, keeping
quality, TSS,protein contentchlorophyll content and also enhances soil properties.
Among the treatment T13 (50% RDN through FYM + 50% RDN through neem
cake + Vermiwash 10% spray at 10% flowering stage) was observed with highest
fruit length (cm), number of fruits per plant, fruit weight (g), yield per plot (kg), yield
per hectare (q), keeping quality (days), TSS content, protein content, chlorophyll
content, net returns (Rs./ha) and B : C ratio during investigation. It also reported that
soil properties and total microbial population were improved by this combination.
