Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Effect of Zinc and Boron on the Growth, Yield and Quality of Guava under Jammu Sub-tropics” was carried out during the year 2019-20 on 12 years old trees of guava cultivar L-49. The experiment comprised of 25 treatments with 3 replications. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design. Different concentration of Zinc Sulphate and Boric acid alone as well as in combination were sprayed twice i.e. last week of October and last week of November. The results revealed that the foliar spray of guava trees with 0.75 per cent Zinc sulphate + 0.50 per cent Boric acid showed significant increase in vegetative parameters likeplant height, plant spread, canopy volume, leaf area index and leaf chlorophyll content. Yield and physical parameters like fruit weight, fruit volume, fruit size, pulp weight were significantly improved with 0.75 per cent Zinc sulphate + 0.50 per cent Boric acid. Various quality parameters such as total soluble solids, total sugars and ascorbic acid content were also improved and maximum values were obtained with applicationof 0.75 per cent Zinc sulphate + 0.50 per cent Boric acid. The increase in leaf nitrogen and leaf potassium content was found to be highest with the treatment combination 0.75 per cent Zinc sulphate + 0.50 per centBoric acid. It was concluded that the best results were obtained with the treatment combination 0.75 per cent Zinc sulphate + 0.50 per cent Boric acid.
