Abstract
An experiment entitled “Effect of NAA & Boron on Control of Flower Drop and Fruit Set in KingChilli (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) under DifferentLevels of Spacing” was conducted under protectedcondition at CHF, CAU, Psg., Ar. P. during the year 2018-19. The experiment was outlined in Split Plot Design with two levels of spacing and nine treatments, in order to reveal the best effect of NAA & Boron on control of flower drop and fruit set in king chilli. The analysis of variance disclosed that there was remarkable variation among the different treatments. The spacing level had minimal influence on most of the growth, flowering and fruiting parameters, however S2 recorded the least number of dropped flowers/plant (10.45). The highest plant height (183.18 cm), maximum number of branches/plant (19.28), reproductive criteria like minimal numberof days to 1st flower appearance (66.92 DAT), leastnumber of days to 50%flower appearance (70.15 DAT), maximal number of flowers/plant (81.63), least number of dropped flowers/plant (7.12), least numberof days to 1st fruit appearance (76.28 DAT), least number of days to 50% fruiting (85.86 DAT) were recorded from T7, while the minimum days to red ripe maturity (126.43 DAT) was recorded with T2. Yield attributing parameters were recorded superior in T7 with maximum number of fruits/plant (75.26), fruitset percentage (92.39%),length of the fruit (69.12 mm), girth of the fruit (31.96 mm), fruitweight (10.76 g), fruityield perplant (678.63 g). Qualityparameters like TSS (6.50 °B) was recorded highest in T3 while T7 recorded maximum dry matter content (9.47%) and T4 indicated maximal ascorbic acid content (56.47 mg/100g). The maximum capsaicincontent (2.46%) was achieved from the treatment T5.
