Abstract
Non-sexual method of multiplication through cuttings is an appropriate method used in many horticultural plants. Success in rooting and survivability rely upon several factors. Therefore in order to find a suitable planting time and optimum concentration of plant growth regulators for rooting of cuttings in grape, an experiment entitled “Effect of planting time, growth regulators and their combination on rooting of hardwood cuttings in grape cv. Bangalore Blue under foothills of Arunachal Pradesh” was conducted at Citrus Nursery, CHF, CAU, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh during the year 2019-20. The experiment was planned in Two Factor Factorial CRD and replicated thrice. The experiment consisted of two factor viz. planting time with three levels (February, March, and April) and plant growth regulators with ten levels T1/Tr1(Control), Tr2(IBA 1000 ppm), Tr3(IBA 2000 ppm), Tr4(IBA 3000 ppm), Tr5(NAA 1000 ppm), Tr6(NAA 2000 ppm), Tr7(NAA 3000 ppm), Tr8(IBA 500 ppm + NAA 500 ppm), Tr9(IBA 1000 ppm + NAA 1000 ppm), and Tr10(IBA 1500 ppm + NAA 1500 ppm). The results of this study revealed that the cuttings planted in the month of march was found to be greater effect on parameters viz. number of branch (2.03), extent of branch (12.58 cm), total count of tendrils (0.77), total count of primary roots (11.70), total count of secondary roots (22.60), weight of root before drying (0.81 g), moistureless root weight (0.07 g), length of root (14.32 cm) and survival percentage (67.08%) after two months from planting. Whereas, parameters viz. number of days taken for first shoot initiation (8.40) and diameter of thickest primary root (1.39 mm) was recorded highest in the month April and root-shoot ratio was good in February. Among plant growth regulators Tr2 (IBA1000 ppm), Tr3 (IBA 2000 ppm), and Tr4 (IBA 3000ppm) was found superior for most of the parameters. The parameters i.e. days for first shoot initiation (9.95), length of shoot (19.15 cm), and number of tendrils (1.40) was found best in Tr2, and root diameter (1.37 mm), root fresh weight (0.84 g), root moistureless weight (0.09 g), length of root (14.73 cm), and survival % (94.44%) was recorded in Tr3 and number of shoot (2.73), number of primary root (14.33), and number of secondary root (26.44) was highest in Tr4. The parameter viz. root-shoot ratio for length was recorded highest (2.42) in Tr7 (NAA 3000 ppm).
